William Walton Burton
William Walton Burton was born on 23 Mar 1833 at Bradford, YORKSHIRE, ENGLAND. He was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (LDS or Mormons) on 9 Jun 1845 at Bradford, YORKSHIRE, ENGLAND. He emigrated on 22 Feb 1854.
He married three sisters, Rachel, Ellen and Sarah, daughters of Joseph FIELDING (brother of Mary FIELDING who married Hyrum Smith) and Hannah GREENWOOD. Together the three sisters bore him 30 children. He appears twice in the 1880 census, once with Rachel and again with both Ellen and Sarah, who are described on the census form as 1st wife and 2nd wife. He married Rachel (27 June 1839-20 July 1914) on 28 Mar 1856 at Salt Lake City, UTAH, USA. He was a school teacher in Kaysville, Utah at first and then for about ten years in Ogden from 1862 to 1864. Six years later he married Ellen (9 Feb 1841-8 Mar 1906) on 2 Nov 1862 at Salt Lake City, UTAH, USA. He married Sarah Ann (19 May 1851-30 Nov 1938) on 23 May 1870 at Salt Lake City, UTAH, USA.
He was listed as an agricultural employer and wagon dealer in 1880 living at Third Street, Ogden, Weber, UTAH, USA. He was also listed on the census of 1880 at Weber, UTAH, USA. In the mid-1880's he established a home and several businesses with Sarah Ann in Afton, Wyoming where he spent most of the later years of his life.
A History of Lincoln County, Wyoming, records "A Utah man named William Burton moved to the valley (Star Valley, Wyoming) in 1886 and started a store in which his sons, Thomas and Arthur, were interested as well as in ranching. They put up a fine building in Afton and organized the Burton Creamery.
